The joining peaks  of two areas or countries is called pass, as the famous Khyber Pass, which connect Pakistan with Afghanistan, Khunjrab Pass which connect Pakistan with China and Lawari Pass which connect Dir Upper with Chitral. District Dir Upper is also  connected to district Swat via Badgoye Pass. The Badgoye Pass is one of most good-looking and appealing pass in KPK, which has gigantic meadows and blossom-full gardens. The pass remain closed from November to April due to heavy snow fall on the top. The Pass was the only pedestrian route  between the Kohistanian of Swat and Dir.
The Kohistani Tribe are settled in Dir Kohistan and Swat Kohistan, as their language, culture, civilization and  rituals  are same. According to Historian, the residence of Kalam swat and Lamoti were brother and due to some unpleasant event the former brother migrated to Kalam.
 
So, the Kohistanian of both the region were travelling through this pass by afoot. As now the road had been constructed, the folk travel through jeeps.

The pass is delivered through very beautiful areas and many tourist travel through the pass to Kalam and from Kalam to Kumrat Valley and Jehaz Banda.
