It is Asia’s biggest bird sanctuary which hosts a huge diversity of migratory birds. If you are a nature lover, you’d be fascinated by the scenic beauty of this place. It covers around 19 kilometers (12 miles) which also includes the main water reservoir which spreads around 10.59 kilometers having a maximum depth of 5.18 meters. Every year, mostly during the winter season starting from November to February, a huge influx of migratory birds takes refuge in this area.
Together Haleji, Keenjhar, and Hudero lakes form one of the world’s largest and most diversified waterfowl habitats.
These lakes homes a large variety of diverse dabblers, surface and deep water feeders and fresh and brackish water lovers. The unique mix of salt and fresh water makes this lake a perfect habitat for all underwater species. Currently, 223 bird species have been recorded in the environs of .
