Castles in Pakistan That Will Make You Cherish Our Rich Culture and Heritage

Despite the fact that we do not want to think of our past, the reality is, it is one of the most crucial steps, which one needs to take in order to perform better in the future. are two important strings that speak a lot about one’s background.

When speaking of Pakistan’s culture and heritage, one cannot forget the enchanting castles that stand high and mighty on various locations.

Guestkor  has compiled a list of castles that will make you want to go visit and know more about the rich legacy that our ancestors have left for us. NOOR MAHAL Based on an Italian chateau model, Noor Mahal was made by Nawab Subah Sadiq IV of Bahawalpur in 1872. This palace was made for the Nawab’s wife.

However, when she saw the graveyard adjacent to the Mahal from her balcony, she refused to spend another night there and so it remained unused during his reign. It has been bought by the Pakistan Army, which uses it as a guest house. SKARDU FORT Situated in Skardu, which is the epitome of beauty, serenity, and wilderness, the Skardu Fort is at half an hour’s distance from the main market, Yadgar Chowk. This fort is an excellent example of ancient engineering.

There is also an ancient mosque inside the fort. BALLA HISSAR FORT This fort is situated on a high mound and is one of the most ancient places in Peshawar. It was used as the capital of the Afghan Durrani Empire by the Pakhtoon King Timur Shah. In 1834, it was renamed as Samir Garh. Since 1949, the Fort has served as the headquarters of the Frontier Corps.

RED FORT Also known as Muzaffarabad fort, this fort is situated alongside the beautiful Neelum River, in Muzaffarabad district, Kashmir. Initially, its construction was done by the Chuk rulers; however, it was completed by Sultan Muzaffar Khan the founder of the Muzaffarabad city during 1646.

Although the fort lost its importance during the Mughal rule in Kashmir, it again came into the limelight and recovered its importance during the Durrani’s rule of this area.

The fort is surrounded on three sides by the Neelum River. Its architecture shows that great experts in design and structure participated in its construction.
