This massive International airport will facilitate about 9 billion passengers. The news says that it will be the first-ever greenfield airport of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan directed for up gradation of all airports and also visited this airport and directed to construct 15 aero-bridges instead of nine.

The Special Assistant Aviation to the PM reported that aero-bridges, radar, baggage handling, ATC towers, and restrooms construction have been put on the fast track.

The Civil Aviation Authority has been given orders by the government to speed up the mechanical and electrical work of the New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA).

The commercial facilities at the airport are to be of international standards and best quality including shopping arcades, cafes, and restaurants.

Designed by French and Singaporean companies, the airport will have 90 check-in counters, parking capacity for 2,000, a 15-gate terminal with ten remote gates, a four-star hotel, convention center, duty-free shops, food court, and 42 immigration counters.
